Why on-premise/local compute
We have a big trend of moving everything to the cloud. However, there are still many reasons to keep your infrastructure on-premise and it’s more and more common to see hybrid solutions. Cloud can be very expensive and you are getting much lower performance for the same price.
Some of the companies are publicly sharing of their savings:
With Synpse you can easily manage your servers, setup alerts and deploy dockerized applications. Saving thousands of dollars on cloud costs. Our sister company webhookrelay.com was able to leverage Synpse to save hundreds of thousands of dollars by moving their infrastructure from Google Cloud to on-premise servers.
Confidentiality - Data and AI
With the rise of AI and Machine Learning, there is a need for more and more powerful hardware. However, not all companies are willing to share their data with cloud providers. Synpse can help you to deploy your own private AI platform. A good example of this is Helix platform that allows you to train your models on your own hardware and data. Inference is done on the same hardware.
Synpse is running Helix on a cluster of servers and allows for easy management and deployment of new models as well as monitoring uptime and utilization.
Mobile, Edge and IoT
While in some cases you can choose whether you want to run your infrastructure on-premise or in the cloud, in some cases you don’t have a choice. For example, when you are dealing with devices that are on the go, like in public transport, heavy machinery or in remote locations.
Synpse was used to launch a new ticketing system in Kaunas, Lithuania.
All card readers in the buses are connected to the central server via Synpse. This allows for real-time updates, monitoring and management of the devices. It was instrumental for fast deployment and troubleshooting when some of the devices were not working as expected.
Why Synpse?
We solve several important problems compared to Kubernetes, Docker Compose and other tools:
- Bootstrap thousands of devices quickly and securely.
- SSH access to devices behind firewalls and CGNAT.
- Deploy software to devices and update applications easily.
- Use concepts and tools that most modern software developers are already familiar with and love - SSH, Containers, Docker, TCP tunnels.
- Role-based access control to enable collaboration.
